Do you know that streets in Beata are names of Pandacan heroes? Samahang Sining at Kultura ng Pilipinas (SSKPil) and Sen. Manny Villar are inviting you to watch their project as they relive the heroics of our “kababayans” (known as Sies Martirez) during the 1896 revolution.

R.I.P Dra. Lourdes Landicho-Evangelista

dra. lourdesDra. Lourdes Landicho-Evangelista was a parishioner of Pandacan since 1956 and was also appointed as a teacher in Jacinto Zamora Elementary School.

After her retirement in 1975, she taught in Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science & Technology (EARIST) and also held an administrative position. She retired again under the Retirement Act in 1995.

Her “retirements” didn’t stop her from teaching, and her passion urged her to teach again in Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa.

Happy 297th Birthday, Pandacan!

Today – May 30, 2009 -we also celebrate our first Pandacan Foundation Day. If everything goes according to the plan, malamang nagising kayo dahil sa ati-atihan at mga banda musika. There will be lots of fun and activities today, so make you go out and participate. ;) Kalimutan muna natin ang mga seryosong isyu tulad ng Oil Depot at magsaya muna tayo at magdiwang.

Two weeks ago, Mang Tony Santos of Samahang Sining at Kultura ng Pilipinas(SSKPil) met with some members of this site to discuss a few important things about Pandacan. One of those is the upcoming Pandacan Day next month – May 30, 2009. Mang Tony has been encouraging various Pandacan groups to join the Grand Parade dubbed as “Lakbayan sa Pandacan”.
