Feast of Black Nazarene 2012, to cause traffic in Pandacan

Tens of thousands Christians from all over the country are expected to join in the Feast of the Black Nazareno on Monday, January 9, 2012.

Due to the procession and religious activities, road closures and traffic re-routing are inevitable; and residents living around Luneta/Rizal Park and Quiapo should expect heavy traffic, including on President Quirino Avenue here in Pandacan.

According to MMDA, vehicles and motorists coming from South bound (Osmena Hi-way) should turn right on to Pres. Quirino to Nagtahan Bridge when going to their destinations.

Supporters of Lim and Atienza Clash Anew

April 6, 2010 – Three people were hurt last Tuesday after supporters of mayoralty bets Lim and Atienza dispute over campaign posters. According to Manila Bulletin, dozens of Atienza supporters arrived in the area (along Pres. Quirino Avenue) where Lim supporters were putting up posters. ABS-CBN reports “… Chief Inspector Rey Cocson, Pandacan Police Station’s night supervisor said 2 of those hurt were Roldan de Guzman and Perlito Paler, supporters of Lim and Atienza, respectively…”

However, both camps denied they started the brawl. “…De Guzman told ABS-CBN News that they were busy pasting Lim’s posters when Atienza’s supporters started throwing rocks at them. Paler, however, said that it was the camp of Lim’s supporters that started the violent confrontation…”

With only one month to go before election, am I silly to expect that there will be more violence (around the city of Manila) to come?
